Only three European languages have a word for wine that is not derived from the latin: Greek, Basque and Hungarian. Hungary has a long history of wine-making for both internal consumption and international export. After the second world-war wineries were collectivized, and the quality and reputation of these century-old brands deteriorated severely. It was only after privatization and serious investments into vino-culture in the late 1990’s that Hungarian wines again started to climb the world top-lists to re-establish their original high status. We will taste the best of these old-new wines and show you how talent and inspiration can restore age-old traditions.
